Ibiza Hippy Markets

4 Febrero, 2019

One of the best things stunning Ibiza still keeps from its hippie roots are the markets scattered around the magical island. Both in summer and winter, you have the choice to visit some fabulous places which are not just known for shopping, but for spontaneous performances, world class international cuisine, and a slice of 60’s island life that seems to be surviving forever. With creative Ibiza still drawing in the artistic crowds to sell their wares, the markets are a cultural melting pot that are a must for everyone to enjoy. Here are three of the best markets in Ibiza, and where you can find them.

Punta Arabi Market – Es Canar

The original hippy market of Ibiza is still ruling the roost every Wednesday in Punta Arabi, Es Canar, from 10am to 7pm.

The stalls are positioned within the white, winding streets that seem to go on forever, and you can find a selection of vintage treasures, handmade goods and commercial souvenirs to take home to friends and family. There are bars and restaurants conveniently dotted around, as well as plenty of stalls offering delicious street food from all over the world.

You can even find a kid’s area where the little ones can make their own memoirs of their Ibiza holiday. The market is a great place to people watch and enjoy the friendly and open ambience while you soak in the sounds of live drummers and other performers.

Las Dalias – San Carlos

This vibrant Ibiza market is open every Saturday in Summer from 10am-8pm, and in Winter (November until April) from 10am-6pm. They also offer the cool and carefree Ibiza Night Market, open on Mondays and Tuesdays in July and Monday, Tuesday and Sunday in August from 7pm.

Las Dalias is the year-round Saturday market in San Carlos and has so much more than just shopping. It’s a whimsical whirl of island residents, entertainment, tea tents, food stalls and live music. It has a fun, tropical allure that keeps people coming back again and again. In high season it has around 200 stalls, and you can pick up plenty of tasty treats made on the island as well as fashion, art, and lots of one off items you might never find anywhere else!

San Juan Market

This artisan market happens every Sunday, year-round from 10am until 3pm.

The Ibiza street market serves up its colorful collection of locally produced and organic goods including natural soaps, eco honey and clothes, in the beautiful and exotic north of the island. It has a perfectly dreamy atmosphere mixed with an eclectic Ibiza vibe. With live music from midday after the San Juan church has Mass, you can find an abundance of lovely handcrafted items shunning some of the usual tourist tatt and don’t miss the gigantic shared paella to feel completely and utterly immersed in true Ibicenco culture.
